Why can't my browser show my public IP by itself?

The browser only knows your LAN-side IP (usually a 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x address). The public IP is assigned by your ISP and is only visible from the server side of a connection.

Is IP geolocation accurate?

Country and region are accurate most of the time. City-level accuracy varies — mobile carriers and VPNs can produce results hundreds of miles off.
